Kauneonga Lake Bald Eagle cover

The hamlet of White Lake, New York sits on the edge of a lake of the same name. Lore holds that the name of the lake in a local Native American language — "Kauneonga" — means "Lake With Two Wings", and indeed the lake's slanted figure-eight pattern resembles the upturned wings of a bird. When the northern portion of the town split off, it changed its name from "North White Lake" to "Kauneonga Lake".

For these covers from @McGeekiest Cachets, a translucent bald eagle in flight overlays an aerial photograph of the lake, the eagle's wings matching the wing formation of the lake. For postage, I used one Bald Eagle stamp from the North American Wildlife issue (Scott #2309) and one New York Ratification of the Constitution stamp (Scott #2346). The covers are postmarked with a "Kauneonga Lake, NY Station" postmark from Kauneonga Lake, New York, 12749 dated November 10, 2016.
