On June 20th, 2016, a rising full moon coincided with the summer solstice for the first time since 1967. This rare coincidence will not recur until 2062.
I used a 29¢ "Moon as seen by the Lunar Orbiter" single (Scott #2571) and the $1 "Sun and Sky" stamp from the Exploring the Solar System issue released in the year 2000 (Scott #3410e) as postage. I had this cover serviced with a handback cancel – at the post office near CalTech in Pasadena, California – to mark the occasion.
