In response to a letter-writing campaign by elementary school students, North Dakota designated the Chokecherry as the official state fruit in 2007. These covers by Joshua McGee feature a shadowed circular cutout photo of a squirrel feasting on chokecherries, atop a copper-hued line-art depiction of a branch of chokecherry leaves and fruit. Along the bottom is the text "Chokecherries: State Fruit Since 2007". For postage, I used a Gray Squirrel Stamp from the 1986 North American Wildlife issue (Scott #2295), to match the cachet, as well as a North Dakota state flag stamp from the Flags of Our Nation series (Scott #4312).
The stamps are canceled by a large pictorial postmark depicting a bunch of chokecherries that reads "North Dakota Chokecherry Festival Station", from Williston, ND dated August 13, 2016.
