Alcatraz is Spanish for Pelican

For these covers from @McGeekiest Cachets, I isolated an elevation shot of Alcatraz Island from its background and positioned it in the lower-right. I took a photograph of brown pelicans flying over Alcatraz and digitally shaped them into a Polaroid-style instant photographic print and applied the caption "Pelicans over Alcatraz" with the date the photo was taken, "July 26, 2007". For postage, I used one San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park single from the National Park Service Centennial issue and one 32¢ Brown pelican single from the 1996 Endangered Species pane.

The stamps are postmarked with an Alcatraz Island Station pictorial postmark from San Francisco, California, 94123 — the Marina district of San Francisco — dated August 14, 2016.
